چکیده

We study the proximity coherence in a mesoscopic normal-metal film in contact with a superconductor. Accounting for a repulsive interaction between the electrons in the normal metal, we find an enhanced local density of states close to the normal-metal–superconductor interface. The sharp peak in the density is pinned to the Fermi energy and leads to spontaneous paramagnetic interface currents. The induced orbital magnetic moments exhibit the characteristic features of the paramagnetic reentrance observed in normal-metal coated superconducting cylinders [P. Visani, A. C. Mota, and A. Pollini, Phys. Rev. Lett. 65, 1514 (1990)]. [S0031-9007(99)08939-5]

Possibility of reflectionless tunneling crossed transport at normal metal / superconductor double interfaces

– We investigate one dimensional models (the Blonder, Tinkham, Klapwijk model and a tight-binding model) of non local transport at normal metal / superconductor (NS) double interfaces. We find a negative elastic cotunneling crossed conductance, strongly enhanced by additional scatterers away from the interfaces, suggesting the possibility of reflectionless tunneling non local transport at doubl...

Noise correlations in three-terminal diffusive superconductor-normal-metal-superconductor nanostructures.

We present measurements of current noise and cross correlations in three-terminal superconductor-normal-metal-superconductor (S-N-S) nanostructures that are potential solid-state entanglers thanks to Andreev reflections at the N-S interfaces. The noise-correlation measurements spanned from the regime where electron-electron interactions are relevant to the regime of incoherent multiple Andreev ...

Scanning tunneling microscope studies of the superconductor proximity effect

Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy are employed in studies of the proximity effect between normal metals and superconductors. The experimental configuration is unique, in that the tunneling current flows in parallel to the interfaces between different materials. The samples are superconducting wires consisting of ordered arrays of submicron diameter normal-metal filaments, either Cu...

Proximity effect in normal metal–multiband superconductor hybrid structures

A theory of the proximity effect in normal metal–multiband superconductor hybrid structures is formulated within the quasiclassical Green’s function formalism. The quasiclassical boundary conditions for multiband hybrid structures are derived in the dirty limit. It is shown that the existence of multiple superconducting bands manifests itself as the occurrence of additional peaks in the density...

Spin-dependent quasiparticle reflection and bound States at interfaces with itinerant antiferromagnets.

We find a novel channel of quasiparticle reflection from the simplest two-sublattice antiferromagnet (AF) on a bipartite lattice. Low-energy quasiparticles in a normal metal (N) experience spin-dependent retroreflection at AF/N interfaces. As a combined effect of antiferromagnetic and Andreev reflections, subgap Andreev states arise at an AF/superconductor (SC) interface. When the antiferromagn...
